Solving the problems...

I am amused by this latest social media suggestion about improving quality of roads immediately. It says, the road quality will improve immediately if we name it after the contractor who built it, along with their address and phone number.

I think all educated (or at least literate) people would know that -

Names and contact numbers of contractors are always displayed when road construction is going on.

Names and contact numbers of corporators are always available on municipal corporation's website.

Every corporator, MLA, MP has their offices in almost each lane/colony/ward.

All municipal corporations, electricity boards, zilla parishads, RTO, police, etc. have their own functional helplines.

How many times have we used these facilities to express our dissatisfaction or report a civic problem?

The fact is, we do not want the problem to be solved. We do not want the situation to be improved. Actually, we like to enjoy it.

We do not believe in participative democracy.

We are waiting for a pure, honest, selfless, god-fearing, brilliant, efficient breed of politicians to arrive from Mars (or heaven) and take care of all these issues for us.

Is this what our education gave us? When shall we open our eyes and face the reality? When shall we stop forwarding such nonsense jokes and ridiculing ourselves?
