सिनेमा म्हणजे करमणूक. एन्टरटेनमेन्ट. खऱ्या आयुष्यातल्या समस्या, दुःख, निराशा विसरायला लावणारे तीन तास, खोटी आशा, खोटी नाती, खोटे प्रसंग; पण करमणूक १००% खरी.
अचाट शक्तीचे अफाट प्रयोग, कल्पनेपलीकडची कल्पना, पौराणिक संदर्भांची आजच्या वास्तवाशी बेमालूम जोडणी, प्रेम-बिम, नाच-गाणी, दसरा-दिवाळी, भांडण - लढाई, रहस्य, अस्त्र-शस्त्र… ब्रह्मास्त्र!
आपण कोण आहोत, आपल्यामधे काय शक्ती आहेत, याची कल्पनाच नसलेला रणबीरचा 'शिवा'. कुठलीही विशेष शक्ती नसताना केवळ प्रेमाखातर जीव धोक्यात घालणारी आलियाची 'ईशा'. आपल्याला नेमून दिलेलं काम बजावताना दुसरा कुठलाही विचार न करणारी मौनीची 'जुनून'. आपल्या छोटया-मोठ्या शक्तींचा योग्य वेळी वापर करणारे शिष्य आणि अस्त्र-शस्त्रांचं प्रशिक्षण देण्याऐवजी स्वतःच्या आतमधे असलेली शक्ती जागवायला शिकवणारे अमिताभचे 'गुरुजी'. एवढ्याच पात्रांनी तीन तास आपल्याला खिळवून ठेवणं शक्य असताना, थोड्याच वेळासाठी येऊन आपला पॉवर-पॅक्ड परफॉर्मन्स देणारा नागार्जुन. आणि सिनेमा रिलीज होईपर्यंत सस्पेन्स ठेवलेला (पण आता सांगायला हरकत नाही असा) - 'ब्रह्मास्त्र' सिनेमाची खरी ताकद - मेन अट्रॅक्शन - शाहरुखचा 'सायंटीस्ट मोहन भार्गव'.
जबरदस्त स्पेशल इफेक्ट्स, जे फक्त आणि फक्त मोठ्या स्क्रीनवरच बघावेत. सुसाट वेगानं धावणारी आणि धक्क्यांमागून धक्के देणारी गोष्ट. एकामागून एक घडत जाणाऱ्या महत्त्वाच्या घटना बघताना मधे-मधे श्वास घ्यायला फुरसत देणारी गाणी. आणि सगळी गोष्ट एकदाच सांगून संपवून टाकण्याऐवजी पहिल्या गोष्टीतून दुसऱ्या गोष्टीबद्दल उत्सुकता निर्माण करून सोडणारा शेवट.
एवढी सगळी कारणं दिली असूनसुद्धा ज्यांना आपली करमणूक करून घ्यायची इच्छा नसेल, त्यांनी अजिबातच 'ब्रह्मास्त्र' बघायला जाऊ नये. हॅरी पॉटर, स्टार वॉर्स आणि हॉलिवूडच्या आणखी कुठल्या-कुठल्या सिनेमांशी तुलना करायची असेल तरी 'ब्रह्मास्त्र' बघायला जाऊ नये. आपल्या पुराणात खरी अस्त्रं कुठली होती आणि कुठलं अस्त्र कधी कुठं कसं वापरायचं याबद्दल आपल्याला उपजत ज्ञान असेल, तर मग 'ब्रह्मास्त्र' बघायचा विचारसुद्धा करू नये.
पण तीन तास 'भारी' वाटून घ्यायचं असेल, फॅन्टसी अनुभवायची असेल, जे प्रत्यक्ष आपल्या आयुष्यात घडणार नाही ते स्क्रीनवर बघायची मजा घ्यायची असेल, (आणि तुम्ही रणबिर, आलिया, अमिताभ, नागार्जुन, मौनी यापैकी कुणाचेही किंवा सगळ्यांचे फॅन असाल...) तर नक्की मोठ्या स्क्रीनवर 'ब्रह्मास्त्र' बघाच.
…शाहरुखचे फॅन असाल तर वरून अकरावी ओळ वाचल्यावरच तुम्ही तिकीट बुक करायला गेला असाल, याची खात्री आहे!

Cinema means entertainment. Entertainment entertainment entertainment. Three hours of relief from real life problems, sorrows, and disappointments. Cinema gives false hopes, portrays false relationships, presents false events; but the entertainment is 100% real.
Tremendous powers being exercised, imagination beyond imagination, subtle connection of mythological references with today's reality, love story, dance and songs, Dussehra-Diwali celebrations, battles and wars, mystery, weapons, Astra… Brahmastra!
Ranbir plays 'Shiva' who has no idea who he is, what powers he has. Alia plays 'Isha' who has no special powers, but risks her life only for the sake of love. Mauni plays 'Junoon' who does not think of anything else while doing the work assigned to her. Amitabh plays 'Guruji' who not only teaches students to use their small and big powers at the right time but also encourages them to awaken the power within themselves instead of training them with weapons. While these many characters could have kept us engrossed for three hours, Nagarjuna gives his power-packed performance in just a short time. And kept in suspense until the release of the movie (but it's okay to say now) - the real strength of 'Brahmastra' - the main attraction - Shahrukh playing 'Scientist Mohan Bhargava'.
Amazing special effects, which should only be seen on the big screen. A story that runs at a steady pace and gives one shock after another. Songs that give you time to breathe while catching up with the important events happening one after the other. And instead of just telling the story once and for all, there is an ending that leaves you curious about the next story generated from the first story.
Despite all these reasons, those who do not want to entertain themselves should not go to see 'Brahmastra' at all. Even if you want to compare it with Harry Potter, Star Wars and any other Hollywood movies, you should not go to see 'Brahmastra'. If you have instinctive knowledge about what were the real weapons in our Puranas and how to use which weapon when and where, then you should not even think of watching 'Brahmastra'.
But if you want to feel great for three hours, if you want to experience the fantasy, if you want to enjoy watching on screen what will never happen in your real life, (and if you are a fan of any or all of Ranbir, Alia, Amitabh, Nagarjuna, Mouni...) then definitely watch 'Brahmastra' on the big screen.
…If you are a fan of Shah Rukh, you must have gone to book the ticket only after reading the eleventh line from above!
