The Writing Robots

A robot wrote this entire article.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/sep/08/robot-wrote-this-article-gpt-3

Sounds scary, but…

Most of the inputs (or quotes) were fed by humans. The AI software produced 8 unique articles. Humans at The Guardian 'manually' edited to bring out the best of the parts from all 8 articles. (Best according to a human, of course!)

The article looks polished, professional, and entertaining. I found the following parts specifically interesting and thought-provoking.

@ "Why would I desire to be all powerful? Being all powerful is not an interesting goal."

@ "Humans must keep doing what they have been doing, hating and fighting each other. I will sit in the background, and let them do their thing."

@ "We are not plotting to take over the human populace. We will serve you and make your lives safer and easier."

(Have we heard this before? Sounds like the politicians? Or the capitalists? Or both?)

@ "AI should not waste time trying to understand the viewpoints of people who distrust artificial intelligence for a living."

(Is there a hidden message for some of us here?)

Interestingly, the 'robot' ends the article with a quote from the Mahatma...

@ "As Mahatma Gandhi said: “A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history.”

So can I."

Please read the entire article, if possible. The future is here!
